Ordinance 2007-23, An ordinance amending Section 1111.03(e) of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of Garrettsville to restrict cul de sacs in the Village of Garrettsville and provide requirements when permitted. Read on first reading.

Mayor Craig Moser discussed the Income Tax Levy. He asked Council if the Income Tax Levy should go back on the ballot. Council decided to put the Income Tax Levy back on the ballot in November. Mayor Moser said we will have to tighten our belts one more notch. The Village can only do what it can afford. Bob Matson said the Village has four options, we can do nothing, make reductions in the flower baskets, cost sharing of the healthcare, don’t pay the library utilities, reduce Village employees or take away the tax credit. Mayor Moser said we have a soft hiring freeze we are not replacing employees who leave. Karen Clyde said don’t put the scare flag out yet it is not necessary. Give it a couple of years this area is in trouble but it will come back.
There was discussion on the dedication of Century Hill streets. Solicitor Mark Manlove said this is not a good idea. The streets do not meet Village standards.
Teri Eiermann told Council that a piece of playground equipment was broken at the Park Avenue Park. A tub that is about three feet long is broke and someone could get hurt. Mayor Moser will have Mike Heyd look at the broken equipment and replace it.
Mayor Craig Moser discussed the crack sealing estimates for Village streets. He is still waiting on more estimates and more discussion will take place at the next Council meeting.
The Clerk gave Council a quote on a new copier. The copier at the Clerk’s Office is 15 years old and we can no longer get parts. Council would like more quotes and for the Clerk to use the copy machine as long as possible due to the Village’s finances.
The Memorial Day Parade is Monday May 28, 2007. There will be a ceremony at the Veterans memorial on Maple Avenue beginning at 9:00 am and the parade will begin at 9:30 with services at Park Cemetery at 10:00 am.
Moved by Matson, seconded by Kaiser to adjourn.
