The Public Hearing was opened by President Craig Moser with Teri Eiermann, Bob Matson, Dave Kirk, Chuck Klamer, Mayor Tom Hardesty, Karen Clyde, Solicitor Mark Manlove, Clerk Nancy Baldwin, Dale Gillespie, Matt Ryser, Jody Schroath from the Villager and a reporter from the Record Courier.

 

Ordinance 2002-42, An ordinance accepting the Final Plat for the Kar-A-Bru subdivision for platting and recording purposes.

 

No comments.

 

Moved by Moser, seconded by Matson to close the Public Hearing and Begin Regular Council.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hardesty with Teri Eiermann, Bob Matson, Dave Kirk, Chuck Klamer, Craig Moser, Karen Clyde, Solicitor Mark Manlove, Clerk Nancy Baldwin,

Dale Gillespie, Matt Ryser, Jody Schroath from the Villager and reporter from the Record Courier.

 

Mayor Hardesty read the State of the Village and his appointments.

 

Moved by Matson, seconded by Moser to approve the Mayor’s Appointments.

Moved by Matson, seconded by Kirk to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2002 meeting as presented by the Clerk.

Moved by Moser, seconded by Klamer to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting December 19, 2002.

Moved by Matson, seconded by Klamer to approve Resolution 2003-01, A resolution commending Jeff Sheehan for his eleven years of service on the Village of Garrettsville Planning Commission.

Moved by Matson, seconded by Klamer to approve Resolution 2003-02, A resolution commending Jeff Kaiser for his six years of service on the Village of Garrettsville Planning Commission.

Matt Ryser was present to discuss the Garrettsville Hiram Rotary Family Week March 30, 2003-April 5, 2003. There is a week filled with activities and events that support “Putting Families First”. Bob Matson thanked Rotary for the Santa each year Rotary has Santa stop at homes and bring gifts for the kids. It is greatly appreciated by the residents and Council. Council gave its support for “Putting Families First.”

 

Moved by Matson, seconded by Klamer to approve Resolution 2003-03, A resolution supporting the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary’s “Putting Families First” the week of March 30, 2003April 5, 2003.

Mayor Hardesty discussed the plowing of streets and sidewalks. Some complaints were made about the sidewalks not being plowed during the week of Christmas. Some employees were off on vacation and there should not be any problems from here on out. Dave Kirk said the Street Department was out plowing Christmas morning while most families were home enjoying Christmas with their families.

 

Bob Matson commended Dick Lawless for his 52 years of service with the Garrettsville Fire Department.

 

Dave Kirk thanked Jody Schroath for the article in the Villager about the danger of kids playing on the creek when the water is not frozen.

 

Revenue, Expenditure and Cash balance reports were reviewed.

 

Craig Moser discussed the finances of the Village we still need to use caution this year.
