Bow Hunting in the Village of Garrettsville

The Village of Garrettsville is seeking input on whether to permit bow hunting on parcels of land 20 acres or larger within the Village limits.  Per current Ordinance 505.11 Hunting (a) No person shall hunt, kill or attempt to kill any animal or fowl within the corporate limits of the Municipality.  Should bow hunting be allowed on parcels of 20 acres or more, it would still require a license from the Ohio Department of Natural Resource (ODNR) and compliance with all current regulations.  The Village could further restrict hunting by requiring certain distances from buildings or property boundaries,  elevation of the archer (thus arrow directed toward the ground), and notifications or special local permits.  Input is restricted to Village residents only as determined by voter eligibility, i.e. not just a Garrettsville mailing address, but be eligible to vote in a local election.
